Colombia to hold second edition of film and metal rock festival

Most of the films of the first edition, especially those from Latin America, reflected criticism over their political, historical, and social environment, from the denounciation of common realities such military dictatorships, corruption, and drug trafficking.
Then, the festival screened 68 films from 22 countries, including Russia, Angola, Egypt, Thailand, and India, of different genres such as comedy, suspense, and drama.
Besides its venue in Bogota, the 2019 festival took place in five nearby municipalities, with the screening of 26 films in film clubs and covered the categories of fiction, short and feature film, documentary and music video.
The 2021 program has already confirmed the attendance of international guests such as Puerto Rican filmmaker and researcher Nelson Varas-Diaz, author of documentaries 'The Distorted Island: Heavy Metal Music and Community in Puerto Rico and 'Acts of Resistance: Heavy Metal Music in Latin America'.

Bogota, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) The International Film and Metal Rock Festival will take place in June in Colombia's capital, aimed at drawing attention to and support the heavy metal film industry, its organizers have informed.
In this second edition, the festival will create events for reflexion and spread of this musical genre, present in the search for identity of a number of generations in the world and made up of several artistic and cultural trends.
