Brasilia, Jan 25 (Prensa Latina) The Brazilian Workers' Party (PT) thanked the Cuban people and government for medical care provided to former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva during his stay in the Caribbean nation. In a letter addressed to President Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party, Army General Raul Castro, and other Cuban leaders, the PT praises 'especially the medical care provided to Lula and the entire delegation that accompanied him, after a second PCR test on December 26 that came back positive.'
The political organization remarks about the exemplary medical treatment the former union leader had during his trip and how 'the Cuban public health system once again demonstrated its efficiency.'
The document states that the entire delegation returned to Brazil fully recovered and ready to continue working, 'still restricted in our country due to poor local health conditions, very neglected by our federal government.'
For the PT, the Cuban public health system, its universality and gratuitousness, should be an example for its Brazilian counterpart.
After his return to Brazil on January 20, Lula condemned the inclusion of Cuba in the US unilateral list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
