The Century of Women virtual meeting to be held in Bolivia
La Paz, Feb 27 (Prensa Latina) A representation of artists from nine Latin American countries will converge in the Arranque Digital meeting of The Century of Women project scheduled for March 1 in Bolivia, according to organizers.
The event will be held virtually until March 3, with participants from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela, Uruguay and the host country, in order to bring together the continent's creators.
The director of the Goethe-Institut La Paz, Sabine Hentzsch, said that the aim is to 'lead to new actions on how we can work to counteract the growing violence against girls and women.'
According to the program, the Argentine anthropologist, teacher and researcher Rita Segato, the feminist group Las Tesis and the Bolivian artist Elvira Espejo are among experts having confirmed their attendance.
The debates will focus on 'new anti-hegemonic behavior models, the visibility of women in politics, society and culture, and the new language in the face of male chauvinist and patriarchal models.'
According to statistics revealed by the executive director of the 'Coordinadora de la Mujer' (Women's Coordinator) group during the first months of the year 2021 about 15 cases of femicide were registered in the South American country.
