'We have a National Healthcare System that is characterized by being free, accessible, regionalized, comprehensive, without discrimination, and with community and intersectoral participation, and has Primary Healthcare as its basis,' the authority highlighted.
Portal explained that there are over 11,000 family doctor's offices, 449 polyclinics, 150 hospitals and 12 research institutes, among other healthcare centers.
In addition, Cuba has a potential of nine physicians per 1,000 inhabitants.
