More vaccines arrive in Peru, as Covid-19 deaths increase (+ Photo)
Lima, Apr 8 (Prensa Latina) Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti received a batch of 200,000 Covid-19 vaccines, in time to confirm the highest coronavirus daily death toll in more than a year.
The head of state and the Minister of Health Oscar Ugarte received the Pfizer vaccine batch, and Sagasti said that similar batches will be arriving weekly this month.
Sagasti added that Pfizer laboratory will provide 1.8 million vaccine doses on May, split in four weekly batches, as part of a 20 million doses to come in the course of the year.
Another AstraZeneca doses are also scheduled, one part through direct purchase and the other through multinational Covax mechanism.
In total, before the administration (next July) as many as 48 million doses will be guaranteed for next government to vaccinate all Peruvians over 18 years.
