Armenia protests of Azerbaidzhani troops in its territory
Erevan, May 16 (Prensa Latina) The Armenian Defense Ministry today warned about the presence of Azerbaijani troops in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions of its territory.
It indicated that this Sunday the situation has not changed and 'remains unresolved', after the latest complaints about the incursion of Azerbaijani military units in Armenian areas near the binational border.
'At night, the Azerbaijani side tried to carry out rearguard operations, which were repressed by Armenian units,' the Armenian Defense portfolio said.
However, according to the statement at the moment the situation is stable, the representatives of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan are not carrying out any fortification work and are not trying to aggravate the situation.
For her part, the spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Leila Abduláyeva, considered Yerevan's complaint about the Azerbaijani military presence in its territory unfounded and said her country 'continues to strengthen the system of protection of its borders,' reported the Foreign Ministry from Baku.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported this Sunday about the start of military exercises in the country with the participation of numerous troops and equipment.
Itef/ noted that the exercises will involve 15,000 soldiers, 300 tanks and other armored vehicles, 400 artillery pieces and missile launchers of various calibers, mortars and anti-tank weapons, as well as 50 aircraft and drones.
The official note indicated that the practice until May 20 will take 'into consideration the experience accumulated during the war in Nagorni-Karabakh.'
