Iran says Joe Biden’s promises are empty

Tehran, Mar 31 (Prensa Latina) Iran considers that US President Joe Biden's promises are empty, while the same measures imposed by his predecessor against the Islamic Republic currently continue in force. During a meeting with his cabinet, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated that the current US Government maintains the same method as the previous one, and we do not see any diplomacy in the actions, since the same sanctions and pressures continue.'

Rouhani said Biden took no action to prevent mismanagement from his predecessor, Donald Trump, and the failure of his maximum pressure policy.

In the opinion of the Iranian president, the Government of Donald Trump committed a humanitarian crime against Iran, because his decisions limited the purchase of medicines and supplies to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Rouhani, a serious will is required in the United States to lift those sanctions and return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or nuclear deal.

Washington withdrew from that pact, signed in 2015 between Tehran and the 5+1 group (United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia and China plus Germany) and reimposed coercive measures against the Islamic Republic.
