Conaie’s support was expressed by its president, Jaime Vargas, during a meeting with the candidate for the coalition Union for Hope (UNES), in the Cofan Milenio-Dureno community, located in the province of Sucumbíos.
Vargas stressed that all members of the Confederation fully support Arauz’s proposals.
Arauz assured that his commitment is to walk together with Conaie and the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of the Ecuadorian Amazon, which also offered him support, ‘for the common dream of a plurinational and intercultural state’.
Likewise, he warned that next April 11, voters will not only elect a ruler, but will define the destiny of an abandoned people in search of recovering their right to work, health and education.
Regarding the work in Sucumbíos, he announced that he will declare a road emergency in the province, will build the University of the Northern Amazon, and as in the rest of the country, will meet the health, education and economic needs with relief to one million families.
Next Sunday, April 11, Arauz will challenge Guillermo Lasso, who is running for the presidency for the third time and represents the center-right alliance CREO-Social Christian Party.
