Venezuelan opposition favors electoral channel

Caracas, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Deputy Luis Eduardo Martinez on Friday called on Venezuela's opposition organizations and parties to favor the holding of elections to settle political differences through democratic and peaceful channels.

Regarding the appointment this week of the new board of directors of the National Electoral Council (CNE), presided over by scholar Pedro Calzadilla, the MP said that the organization provides guarantees to participate in the upcoming regional and municipal elections.

The also vice president of the special commission of the National Assembly (Parliament) for dialogue and reconciliation in Venezuela, called to consolidate the alliance of forces that oppose the Bolivarian government in the face of the coming elections.

The renewal of all CNE rectors for the period 2021-2028 responded to the broad process of dialogue promoted in Venezuela in favor of peace and understanding, different political actors agreed here.

In this sense, the head of Parliament, Jorge Rodriguez, highlighted the reaffirmation of the institutionality and democratic order through the creation of the highest electoral body, which will act in an autonomous, independent and noble manner to protect each voter´s vote, he said.

In a joint statement, the opposition organizations represented in the assembly underlined their support to the appointment of the electoral body, as a result of the political actors who decided to follow the electoral channel, with detachment and without extremist positions.
