Cuban health authorities confirm 1,207 Covid-19 cases, 13 deaths

Havana, May 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuban health authorities on Wednesday confirmed 1,207 new Covid-19 cases and 13 deaths over the last 24 hours due to complications related to this disease.

With these figures, the total number of contagions in Cuba since March 2020 has increased to 119,375 and the death toll rose to 768, Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), said at his daily press briefing on television.

The doctor explained that to date, 23,235 patients remain in hospitals, including 3,493 suspected cases, 13,652 under epidemiological surveillance and 6,090 active patients.

On Tuesday, all molecular biology laboratories nationwide made 20,606 PCR tests in real time to detect the presence of the coronavirus, totaling 3,900,479 samples so far.
