Syrian adviser reiterates rejection to elections’ interference

Damascus, May 24 (Prensa Latina) Syrian President's Adviser Bouzeina Shabaan said on Monday that elections are a purely internal affair and President Bashar al-Assad takes his legitimacy from the people and not from foreign powers.

The recent statements by the French Government about the elections are part of the Western and Zionist hostile approach to Syria and therefore, they have no value for us, Shabaan said in a dialogue at the University of Damascus.

According to the adviser, the fact that Turkey and Germany prevented the Syrian residents in those nations from voting shows the falsehood of their claims about democracy.

Syria, said Shabaan, faced a fierce terrorist and media war whose objective was always to reverse the facts, and the army and the people were united in the fight against terrorism that sought to destroy the institutions, infrastructure, civilization and the identity of the nation.

After most of the national territory has been liberated from terrorism and in the face of the inability of those who were entrusted to unleash this war, Israel, the United States and their allies got involved directly and occupied Syrian land after those failed to carry out the assigned tasks, the adviser explained.

In relation to what is happening in Palestine, Shabaan said that Israel failed to break the Palestinians’ will because this time their resistance was armored with unity.
