According to the energy portfolio, the parties penned a protocol of amendments to an intergovernmental agreement that provided for the construction of North-South gas pipeline in that country in 2015.

Shulguinov stressed that the implementation of the project will allow Pakistan to strengthen its energy security and increase the use of natural gas as an environmentally friendly energy source.

The 1,100-kilometer pipeline will have the capacity to transport 12.4 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas per year from the southern city of Karachi to the northern city of Lahore, where plants will be built to be powered by this energy source.
