China and the U.S. conduct trade talks for third time in two weeks

Beijing, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) Senior officials of China and the United States sat down once again to hold talks about their trade relations, seriously damaged by the tax war that began in 2018.

According to the Ministry of Commerce of China, Minister Wang Wentao held phone talks with his U.S. counterpart, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

According to the statement, both parts expressed their opinions on common worries related to trade between China and the US in a ‘sincere and pragmatic manner.’

This is the third time in two weeks that officials of the two countries dialogue after the talks held by China’s Prime Minister Liu He, first with U.S. trade representative Katherine Tai, and second with Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

Observadores consideran positivo estos contactos entre representantes chinos y de la administración del presidente norteamericano, Joe Biden, como un paso inicial para tratar de resolver las diferencias en el espinoso tema comercial.

China and the United States signed the first phase of an agreement destined to end the protracted trade war initiated by then-president Donald Trump in 2018.
