In the opening speech of the 21st Congress of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) on Friday, its secretary general, Dimitris Koutsompas, highlighted that position of its militants and praised the victory of Cuba in the voting, on June 23rd, at the UN General Assembly, that backed up Havana’s resolution.
He deemed that policy of US administrations that is still applied after almost 60 years as genocidal. Invited to address the forum, Cuban ambassador to Greece, Zelmys María Domínguez thanked the militant and permanent solidarity of the KKE towards Cuba, as well as the positive vote of Greece in favor of the Cuban resolution at the UN.
Interviewed by the KKE radio, Domínguez considered the speech by Koutsompas as very emotional. She praised the concert offered to the delegates and expressed her gratitude for the prominent place given to the ‘Hasta Siempre Comandante’ song by Cuban singer songwriter Carlos Puebla, dedicated to Ernesto Che Guevara.
