Prensa Latina and IRNA news agencies broaden collaboration

Havana, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) Iran's Ambassador in Cuba Seyed Mohammad Hadi Sobhani on Tuesday ratified the possibility of broadening collaboration between the international Prensa Latina and IRNA news agencies, from Cuba and Iran, respectively.

In a courtesy visit, Iran’s diplomat stated to the president of Prensa Latina, Luis Enrique Gonzalez, the interest in renewing and strengthening the links between those two institutions, established through a Professional Collaboration Deal signed in Teheran in October 2002.

The ambassador referred to the good state of relations between the two countries, as well as the role that both news agencies can play in fostering mutual knowledge between the Cuban and Iranian peoples.

Meanwhile, Gonzalez reiterated Prensa Latina’s willingness to strengthen working ties with IRNA, to boost professional exchange and to undertake joint actions such as the realization of virtual photographic exhibitions, taking advantage of the voluminous archives that those two entities have.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) was founded in 1934, five years before the birth of the Latin American news agency Prensa Latina, at the initiative of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.
