Uruguayan trade unions show solidarity with Cuba facing the blockade

Montevideo, July 13 (Prensa Latina) The Uruguayan trade union Pit-Cnt expressed today its solidarity with Cuba and asked the international community to speak out urgently in the face of the US blockade that brings more hardships for the Cuban people.

It also recalled in a statement that this hostile policy ‘led the island to survive for more than 60 years without neglecting its profound revolutionary vision, taking care of the health, food and education of its people.’

The application of ‘a criminal and unjust blockade’ was also denounced, even at this time of a global pandemic, Cuba is forced to go through it ‘in the worst conditions, regardless of the lives of Cubans’, it added.

In this regard, it informs that in the face of a new defeat a few days ago in the United Nations in the vote against the blockade, the president of the United States, Joe Biden, decided to intensify the measures against the Cuban people, attacking the purchase of fuel and components necessary for the electrical system.

‘Once again the PIT-CNT expressed that it speaks out to ask that the sovereignty of each of the countries of the world be respected,’ the statement says at the end, and announcing the inclusion of the topic on the Executive Secretariat’s agenda for tomorrow.
