Africa returns to rise in infections with Covid-19

Nairobi, July 22 (Prensa Latina) After a pause of just 48 hours, sub-Saharan Africa returned to the rise in infections with Covid-19, according to analysis of the report issued today by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC).

In last 24 hours, health services of countries south of the Sahara reported to CDPC 30,642 infections for a total of 6,330 thousand 48 infected since the detection of the first case in this region of the world.

Deaths, likewise, showed a trend to increase with 866 deaths on Wednesday; total of deaths amounted to 160 thousand 534.

Most disturbing aspect of the course of the pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa lies in the absence of an organized plan with even a mediate perspective allowing to expect a recession of the deadly disease in the area.

On the contrary, prevailing conditions point to the possibility for further spread if urgent containment measures are not taken.
