Covid-19 contagion rates in Mexico still on the rise

Mexico, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) Covid-19 continues escalating in Mexico with 15,198 infections confirmed on Thursday, bringing the total to 2,693,495, while deaths increased by 397, for a cumulative 237,207.

The Ministry of Health reported in its morning update that there are 92,738 active cases throughout the national territory.

799,495 people were immunized on Wednesday for a total of 55,911,861 doses applied since last December.

Mexico has 127 million inhabitants, but so far only those over 18 years of age, who total around 118 million citizens, will be vaccinated.

The daily technical report on the status of the pandemic indicates that 39,043,948 people have been vaccinated to date. Of these, 22,290,247 have completed their immunization schedule, while 16.7 million have received their first dose.

It was indicated that 44 percent of the country’s adult population has already received at least the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
