Ravanchi ratified Iran’s support for Cuba in the face of the blockade imposed by the United States since 1962 during a meeting of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (NAM), held in New York.
In the opinion of the head of the Iranian mission, the hostile US policy against Cuba violates fundamental norms and rules of international law and undermines human rights and democracy.
‘In recent decades, Washington decreed a variety of sanctions against members of the Non-Aligned Movement, despite the extreme conditions created by the Covid-19 pandemic,’ he denounced.
The Cuban ambassador in Iran, Alexis Bandrich Vega, and an adviser to the Iranian Parliament, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, ratified previously the intentions to strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two countries.
Abdollahian said that the US government is trying to suffocate the two countries with intensified oppressive measures in the context of the pandemic.
