Russia denies alleged interference in US elections

Moscow, Jul 28 (Prensa Latina) Official spokesman Dmitri Peskov assured that Russia is not intervening, nor will it do so, in the electoral processes of the United States, in response to accusations in this regard launched on Tuesday by President Joe Biden.

‘Russia has never interfered in the electoral processes in the United States,’ stressed the presidential press chief, who clarified that the results of the repeated investigations carried out in the United States confirmed that there was no intervention.

Peskov pointed out that the Russian government has no intention of meddling in elections in other countries.

Biden pronounced a speech to the intelligence services on Tuesday accusing Russia of trying to interfere in the 2022 mid-term elections, when congressmen, governors and other local positions will be elected.

‘Look at what Russia is already doing with the 2022 elections and disinformation. It is an outright violation of our sovereignty,’ the president said during a visit to the Office of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, referring to information allegedly received regarding this.

Peskov stressed on Wednesday that Russia recognizes with regret that the United States is not yet a partner, but an opponent.

‘So far, there are unfortunately no partnership and relationship programs, even though President Putin has repeatedly demonstrated the political will to normalize these relationships,’ he said, according to the TASS news agency.

Peskov said that the country is concerned by the fact that the United States intelligence services are working in Russian territory. ‘This comes from times immemorial, and has not stopped,’ he said.
