Traditionally in June the airlines register a high demand for summer season, however, this time there is no tangible and real recovery so far, the IATA said. .

Globally, air transport demand, measured in passenger-revenue per kilometer, remains 60.1% below pre-pandemic levels, and accounts for a slight improvement compared to -62.9% in May, he said.

Plus, IATA recognized that the international travel service is the most affected, with a fall of 80.9% in the year-on-year comparison, while domestic service is only 22.4% lower than June 2019.

IATA again urged governments to allow free travel of all fully vaccinated people and establish an efficient system of diagnostic tests for the disease, as the only measure to control the flows of those who have not received their dose.
