Cuban president calls to prepare for upcoming rains

Havana, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel urged today to people's discipline and preparation for possible increase in rains in the coming days.

The president recalled on Twitter that the island is on the early warning phase due to the proximity of tropical storm Fred, currently located south of Puerto Rico.

‘Territories already prepare. We ask our people for discipline and being careful’, he added.

According to information from the Weather Forecast Center from the Institute of Meteorology, the low pressure area is gaining in organization and concentrates around its center a strong activity of heavy rains and electrical storms.

Experts foresee an increase in rainfall over Cuba starting Thursday 12 in the eastern region and then spreading to the rest of the island on Friday 13 August.
