After a stopover in Uzbekistan, almost 500 evacuees managed to escape from a scene described as chaotic by the international press.

The Taliban army entered Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, on Sunday, August 15, after the main cities had been conquered in just seven days.

After the US troops withdrew, the insurgents advanced in an offensive that culminated with the seizure of the political power in the Islamic nation.

The new scenario has generated concern in many Governments that decided to evacuate their personnel despite statements by Taliban leaders that security will be provided to citizens and diplomatic missions.
