The states of Louisiana and Mississippi were the most hardly hit areas by Ida, which slashed into the US southern coast on August 29 with category four on the five-level Saffir-Simpson scale.

At least two deaths were reported in the area while more than a million people had no electricity in the middle of a heat wave.

In addition, floods and damage to oil networks were reported.
