US blockade against Cuba is immoral and inhumane

Damascus, Sept 9 (Prensa Latina) Syrian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Faisal al-Mekdad, on Thursday described the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba as inhumane and immoral.

We would like to express our full solidarity and we think that the blockade against sister Cuba and the Caesar Act imposed on Syria are two sides of the same coin, the foreign minister told Prensa Latina in exclusive statements, after a meeting with Cuban Ambassador Miguel Porto.

He denounced that successive US administrations have violated the principles on which the United States itself was created, by depriving the Cuban and Syrian peoples of food and medicines, which runs against moral and humane logic.

The senior official described bilateral, economic and political relations as deep, and highlighted the willingness to overcome hardships that prevent their development, either the Covid-19 pandemic or the war on terror waged by Syria and Cuba’s constant fight to defend its sovereignty and independence.

According to the foreign minister, the world thanks Cuba for providing health care and supporting the peoples who are fighting for their freedom and independence, particularly in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.

He ratified that his country will continue to support Cuba and thinks that the Cubans’ fight is the concern of Syrians, too, and denounced the attempts against the Cuban Revolution.

US plots against Cuba are similar to those against Syria, but the Cuban people have managed to thwart them, like the Syrian people, which prevented their enemies from achieving their goals, he said.
