Chile starts to vaccinate children against Covid-19

Santiago de Chile, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) Chile started today to vaccinate children between six and 11 years old in schools with the Coronavac vaccine, a formula against Covid-19 from China's Sinovac laboratory.

During an event held in the capital’s Providencia district, the Deputy Health Minister Paula Daza said that the goal is to apply two doses to all minors between now and December.

‘That process provides more security to the families to recover face-to-face activities and also to the educational communities,’ the head of Education, Raul Figueroa, stated.

Such program is expected to vaccinate 1,500,000 children against SARS-CoV-2.

The Ministry of Health reported on Monday 640 infections and five deaths from Covid-19, which raises the number of infected to 1,652,364 and the death toll to 37,445 with positive PCR.

In statements to the press, the head of that portfolio, Enrique Paris, provided details about the plant that the Sinovac pharmaceutical company will install in Santiago de Chile for the filling of vaccines.

According to Paris, that facility will allow exporting doses to Latin America and will contribute to the fight against the pandemic in the region.
