The assault lasted about an hour, during which the attackers looted and burned houses and stole livestock and belongings from inhabitants in the areas of Madamai and Abun, according to reports from the Daily Post and This Day newspapers.

Among those killed are 13 members of the same family, said sources, according to which an undetermined number of people were injured and might be added to the death toll.

Actions by armed criminal gangs in Nigeria are becoming increasingly violent and audacious, and the government seems unable to control them.
