Jordan reopens its borders with Syria

Damascus, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) The Jordanian Interior Ministry announced today the complete pre-opening of the borders with Syria to reactivate the commercial and tourist movement between the two countries, media reported here.

They added that the Jaber-Nassib border crossing will be reopened to the movement of goods and passengers from next Wednesday after taking all sanitary and security measures.

This announcement coincides with a two-day visit to Jordan by the Syrian Ministers of Economy and Foreign Trade, Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil; of Water Resources, Tammam Raad; of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Muhammad Hassan Qatna; and of Electricity, Ghassan Al-Zamel.

The aim of the talks of this ministerial delegation, considered the largest at this level since the outbreak of the war in 2011, is to revitalize economic relations between the two brotherly countries and restore the movement of trade exchange, the official SANA news agency reported.

The Nassib-Jaber border crossing between Jordan and Syria was closed in 2014 and reopened in 2018 after its liberation from radical groups.
