Egyptian government highlights election of Tunisia’s prime minister

Cairo, Oct 1 (Prensa Latina) The Egyptian Government on Friday highlighted the appointment of Najla Bouden Romdhane as a Prime Minister of Tunisia, a choice it considered a movement of that country towards the future.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez reiterated Cairo’s support for Tunisia’s President Kais Saied. Romdhane’s appointment is part of the efforts to achieve stability and security in that nation, Hafez said in a communique.

Following her appointment on Wednesday, the 63-year-old scientist became the first woman to head the Government in Tunisia’s history.

Tension escalated there right after Saied decided in late July to dismiss Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi and suspend Parliament’s activities.

Since then, Egyptian authorities have repeatedly reiterated their support for the Tunisian president.
