UN chief urges Sudan military chief to restore transition

United Nations, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) UN Secretary-General (UNSG) António Guterres on Thursday personally spoke by a phone call with General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Commander of Sudanese Armed Forces, about encouraging all efforts toward solving political crisis in Sudan.

According to Guterres´ spokesperson, the UN chief reiterated his call to urgently restore the constitutional order and Sudan´s transitional process.

Likewise, he urged the military to release civilian leaders including Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, who has been under house arrest after the takeover on Oct. 25.

Guterres reaffirmed the UN will continue to support Sudanese people in their struggle to fulfill their aspirations for a peaceful, prosperous and democratic future.
