CubaCoop describes US blockade against Cuba as cruel and unfair

cubacoop
Paris, Feb 10 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba Cooperation France Association (CubaCoop) on Thursday described the economic, commercial and financial blockade the United States has imposed to the island as cruel and unjust, whose resistance to that aggressive policy it recognized.

In its weekly issue La lettre electronique Hebdo, the association founded in 1995 to support Cuba’s socio-economic development ratified its condemnation to the blockade, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its formalization, although Washington had been implemented it practically since the triumph of the Revolution in 1959.

The total blockade on trade with Cuba came into force on February 7, 1962, after then President John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order 3447 four days earlier.

During all this time, the Cuban people have suffered and also faced the severe consequences of the measures decreed by successive US administrations, which seeks to overthrow the freely chosen political and social system, CubaCoop Vice-President Michel Humbert warned in La Lettre that the association spreads to thousands of subscribers.

Despite this –the association stressed-, the Caribbean nation is commendably resisting a blockade with its effects aggravated during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This week, CubaCoop President Victor Fernandez sent an open letter to Head of State Emmanuel Macron to ask him to work to lift the blockade, in the context of France’s rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union.
