The collective, under the general direction of the National Dance Prize winner, Laura Alonso, will defend in its repertoire the pas de deux of Romeo and Juliet, The Death of the Swan, the Suite of La Fille Mal Gardeé, the Contradanza of Cecilia Valdés, Manon and other emblematic works of the universal classical repertoire that are part of its dance history.

According to a press release, the functions in homage to the center that Alonso founded and directs will take place on April 8, 9 and 10 with the intention of revering the legacy of that institution where young talents germinate who receive the teaching method of the Cuban School of Ballet.

In addition, the celebration of the Cuballet event, inaugurated in 1982 to show the way of dancing of Cuban dancers and, as a contest, has had foreign editions in countries such as Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Sweden, and Puerto Rico stands out.

Alonso is the daughter of Alicia and Fernando Alonso, founders of the National Ballet and the Cuban ballet school together with Alberto Alonso, all considered great figures in the history of ballet in the world.
