Cuban President toured the Mariel Thermoelectric Power Plant

Havana, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today toured areas of the Máximo Gómez Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE), located in the municipality of Mariel, in the western province of Artemisa.

Together with the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, and the Minister of Energy and Mines, Luis Nicolás Arronte, Díaz-Canel learned that said facility generates 391 megawatts (MW), between the barges (barges), five engines and their operating units.

Likewise, he recognized the hard work done in the CTE after the fire that occurred in a steam turbine of its unit 7, which caused an automatic trip of the system, specified the Presidency’s Twitter site.

Regarding the tour of the country’s thermoelectric plants, which only needs to be visited in the province of Cienfuegos, Díaz-Canel said in statements to the press that “very hard work is being done, with a lot of commitment and with a lot of responsibility.” .

Hours earlier, he arrived at the CTE Otto Parellada in Havana, better known as Tallapiedra, which should start at noon, local time, this Sunday.

This plant will deliver 45 MW to the National Electroenergy System.
