Bolivia and Peru promote port collaboration

La Paz, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) The alternative the port of Ilo represents for Bolivia's foreign trade focuses Tuesday's talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between entrepreneurs of the highland country and operators of the Peruvian port.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that in coordination with its Peruvian counterpart, it organized a session in La Paz and the second one in Santa Cruz to promote the facilities of the international economic corridor to enhance the port of Ilo.

According to the source, the meetings between binational authorities and entrepreneurs will be held in La Paz on Tuesday and in Santa Cruz on Wednesday, September 14.

The second meeting will be held at the Chamber of Exporters in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

According to the Port Services Administration, up to June this year, a record figure of 72,282 tons left through the Peruvian port of Ilo.

The so-called binational cabinets and the good communication between Bolivia’s President Luis Arce and Peru’s Pedro Castillo promote Bolivian export projects through the Peruvian pots of Ilo and Matarani.

During the most recent bilateral meeting held in La Paz in October, the two presidents agreed to work together to prioritize pending investments to develop southern Peru and “give Bolivia a real alternative in its foreign trade.”
