Polling stations open in Cuba for a referendum on new Family Code

Havana, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) More than 23,000 polling stations opened throughout the country on Sunday, so that Cubans can exercise their right to vote in the popular referendum on the new Family Code.

The voting is scheduled until 6:00 p.m., local time, and about 200,000 people will participate in carrying out this process, including more than 1,400 supervisors and about 28,000 collaborators. According to National Electoral Council President Alina Balseiro, in places such as hotels, bus depots and airports, 224 polling stations will be set up, so that those who are outside their places of residence can vote.

Today, all Cubans who have reached the age of 16, are in full enjoyment of their political and civil rights, have an effective residence in the country for a period of not less than two years before the vote, are registered in the Electoral Registry and do not present judicial restrictions for the exercise of their legal capacity will be able to go to the polls.
