Balance week and projections in Cuba

Havana, Dec 18 (Prensa Latina) The sessions of the National Assembly of People's Power and the XXII Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Treaty focused on Cuba this week ending today.

The final session of the parliament of the year was also the closing of its 9th legislature, with a busy agenda with the approval of four important laws in tune with the legislative reform that the country is undergoing.

It also included the approval of the Economy Plan for 2023, aimed at achieving greater effectiveness and speed in the development objectives; accountability of organizations and analysis of the most pressing problems of the nation, among other issues addressed by legislators.

Reporting to the plenary on his management in the stage, President Miguel Díaz-Canel self-critically expressed his dissatisfaction for not having achieved all the objectives proposed by the Government, which was influenced both by the complex international situation and the blockade of United States, and internal deficiencies that he called to overcome.

In this sense, he called to shake off inertia, banish bureaucratism, eliminate obstacles and overcome complacency, to advance rapidly and sustainably in the consolidation of socialism in Cuba and to work with creativity and an innovative spirit to promote the actions implemented in terms of national development. .

Among other projections for the new year, he highlighted the need to achieve a gradual but sustained increase in foreign currency income, which helps to resolve the macroeconomic imbalance that is expressed in inflation and scarcity that affect the population’s quality of life.

He also defined as a priority for 2023 to continue care for vulnerable communities, promote subsidies for people, with a non-assistance approach, among other measures, to promote social development.

As a culmination of the three days of work in the plenary session of parliament, an extraordinary session was held to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the creation of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP).

In their interventions, the high representatives of the countries that make up this entity based on collaboration and solidarity, reiterated the importance of ALBA-TCP and the importance of maintaining and reinforcing its founding objectives in favor of the development of the peoples.

After the extraordinary day of parliament, the summit of the Heads of State and Government of ALBA-TCP met, who in its final declaration of the meeting ratified their commitment to strengthening this regional forum, as an instrument of union between peoples, based on the principles of solidarity.

They also pointed out the need to strengthen the role of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States as a mechanism for dialogue and political agreement, and supported the efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among all the countries of the continent, without exception, to find solutions to the great problems hemispherical.
