“As Minister of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge and as an artist, I strongly condemn the violent attempted coup in Brazil. The future of Latin America, the Caribbean and Ibero-America depends on our capacity to shield the real democracy,” Ariza said.
Ariza greeted her Brazilian counterpart Margareth Menezes and invited her to meet “to build together the cultural defense of democracy”, Fernando Rendón, director of the International Poetry Festival in Medellín and coordinator of the World Poetry Movement, told Prensa Latina.
In view of the Sunday´s incidents in Brazil, as Bolsonaro´s supporters stormed the National Congress, the Supreme Federal Court and the presidential headquarters, our Movement strongly condemned the attempted coup, Rendón stressed.
Likewise, Rendón expressed his support to President Lula and the Brazilian people, assuring “the fascists will not pass”.
