Managua, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) Nicaragua's President Daniel Ortega held a meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, to whom he expressed his appreciation and affection for the Iranian people.

During the meeting, to which Vice President Rosario Murillo, other officials of the Sandinista Executive and the Iranian delegation attended, Ortega expressed his esteem for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Ebrahim Raisi.

The Nicaraguan president made reference to the current struggles for the sovereignty and peace for the peoples and assured that both nations are facing the same enemy, defeated with the 1979 revolutions.

“And the enemies of peace, as we well know, want to maintain their imperialist, hegemonic, colonialist, neocolonialist policies, not only in what they have called the backyard of the United States, which is Latin America and the Caribbean but in the world,” he stressed.

The head of State mentioned the latest terrorist actions in Iran and reminded the drone attacks on security points, with which they defied the will for peace of the Iranian people and the world.

The Iranian diplomat arrived in Nicaragua on Wednesday and is developing a broad working agenda with government authorities in order to expand and strengthen bilateral cooperation in several spheres.
