Congressmen push for higher pay for federal employees

Cory Booker, senador demócrata de Estados Unidos y candidato a la Casa Blanca
Washington, Feb 15 (Prensa Latina) A bipartisan coalition of lawmakers and activists on Wednesday urged for better pay (8.7%) for federal employees nationwide, The Hill reported.

Lawmakers -led by Democratic Sen. Cory Booker, back the so-called Fair Act.

This bill, if passed, would restore years of lost wage increases for federal employees.

On Tuesday, Booker joined other lawmakers and activists to demand better pay for federal employees across the country. “When we are united we are strong,” Booker said.

“We’ve got to stop calling, by the way what I just did, which is a pay increase, which it is not. It’s fair pay,” Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Penn.) said.

¨We are calling for the respect that federal employees really deserve for years of work,¨ Fitzpatrick stressed.

However, the demand is presently facing a great deal of drawbacks in Congress, divided by a Democratic Senate and a Republican House, analysts say.
