Ecuador is one of the countries most indebted to IMF

Fondo-Monetario-Internacional-FMI-1
Quito, Apr 21 (Prensa Latina) Ecuador is currently one of the countries most indebted to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and owes it more than 8.2 billion dollars without reflecting on improvements of the society.

According to the financial organization itself, the data are not at all encouraging as that entity “helps” countries that do not have access to credit in any other way.

Despite those statements, the government of President Guillermo Lasso has said it will request more loans.

Economy Minister Pablo Arosemena said he would request a new credit line from the IMF to face the effects of the natural disasters that have hit Ecuador in recent months, including rains, landslides, and the March 18 earthquake.

In the face of such a large debt, citizens wonder where so much money has gone, because they do not see it in public works or social investments.
