Solidarity embrace in Cuba to the First of May International Brigade

Solidarity embrace in Cuba to the First of May International Brigade Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, May 5 (Prensa Latina) Sancti Spíritus opened its arms to the members of the XVI International May First Brigade of Voluntary Work and Solidarity with Cuba, who paraded today through the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Serafín Sánchez.

In the commemoration of the International Workers’ Day “they broke the US blockade against Cuba with their presence here”, that was heard in the Plaza full of people in the voice of the announcer.

The 245 members of the brigade, coming from 29 countries, have been carrying out, since last Wednesday, an extensive program of activities which includes, productive work and tours of sites of economic, social and cultural interest.

They came from various parts of the world and although the majority of the representatives are from the United States and the United Kingdom, many others have come from Brazil, Chile, Spain, Ghana, Portugal…

Prensa Latina had the privilege of speaking with Luiz Francisco Osorio, from Brazil, with Chilean Dolly Tabilo, who came accompanied by her granddaughter Mariana Gomila, and with Aitor Redondo, from Madrid, Spain.

This is Tabilo’s fourth visit to Cuba, but the young Luiz and Aitor are visiting for the first time.

While the former emphasizes the similarities between Brazil and our country, seen from his culture and African roots, the latter wants to know more about the Cuban people, how they live, their current situation and even the work of mass organizations.

The farewell is scheduled for tonight at the Casa-Museo La Guayabera, a cultural institution that houses the largest collection of that garment, with more than 200 pieces, belonging to personalities of politics, culture, sports and science of Cuba and the world.

It was a morning of proletarian joy, support for the revolutionary process and its top leaders, remembering the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), and the example left by union leaders of the stature of Lázaro Peña.

To the Homeland, hands and heart was the motto of this May 1st parade that started with the Union of Education, Science and Sports, where children’s faces gave a particular touch.

Together with the members of the Public Administration Union, to which the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples is linked, the aforementioned brigade participated with a warm welcome.

This Friday in the provincial capital and in each municipality, the people of Sancti Spiritus demonstrated the support of the workers and their families to the Homeland, the Revolution and its leaders in the celebration of World Proletariat Day.
