Indian Prime Minister concludes visit to Egypt to strengthen ties

Cairo, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will be received by the Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, on his second and last day of visit to the country as part of the efforts to strengthen economic and trade relations.

Modi landed in this capital yesterday, where he was received by his Egyptian counterpart, Mostafa Madbouly, with whom he later held a meeting.

This is a remarkable year for our ties, the Indian head of government said shortly after the dialogues.

In this regard, he recalled that in January El-Sisi visited India to participate in the celebration of the Republic´s Day.

Modi pointed out that both nations are promoting a series of projects to reach 12 billion dollars in trade exchange in the next five years.

In the last six months, Indian companies invested some $170 million in Egypt, he stressed.

The National Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed this week that bilateral trade was six billion dollars in 2022, up 13,7% over the previous year.

According to the Indian ambassador to Cairo, Ajit Gupte, this is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Cairo since 1997.
