Nepal’s prime minister declares war against corruption

Kathmandu, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday repeated his government's all-out war against corruption to strengthen national unity, ensure social justice, and lay the ground for socialism.

The prime minister’s comments follow the government’s investigation into cases such as the Bhutanese refugee scam, public land grabbing, and the recent seizure of a large amount of gold at Tribhuvan International Airport, The Himalayan newspaper reported.

Dahal said that the crackdown on corruption and misrule did not result in an impulsive action or political gimmick but is aimed at achieving a fairer society for Nepalis and was the continuation of the dream of those who gave their lives for independence.

He called for popular support to eliminate such demonstrations that undermine peace in the nation.

Dahal denounced some efforts to create a rift within the ruling parties and the Socialist Front after the investigation of the said cases started.

Finally, the prime minister reaffirmed the need to reform all sectors, especially education, to advance the construction of socialism as envisaged by the Constitution.
