Mass mobilizations to back Gustavo Petro’s administration

Bogota, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) Hundreds of thousands of Colombians took to the streets on Wednesday in order to back new reforms promoted by Gustavo Petro’s Government, which seek to favor historically forgotten populations.

Indigenous, Raizal and Palenquero peoples, unions, students, political parties, peasants, women, students, government officials, among others, joined in the ‘March for Life’ that took place in all Colombian cities, particularly Bogota’s Bolivar Square was extraordinarily crowded.

President Gustavo Petro thanked this demonstration of support for the reforms proposed by his government to transform the country ranking fourth worldwide as the most unequal.

“We have to change and transform society so that we can live. It’s as simple as that. To be able to live in Colombia means changing a series of regulations, laws, and ways of understanding. We have to crack down on exclusion, inequality and injustice,” President Petro stressed.

This mobilization is aimed at championing the democratic reforms presented to the national debate, to the political forces and to the Colombian society, Petro added.
