The activities will take place in different spaces, one of which is the Vitrine de Wallonie cultural center, where the panel “The challenges of installing a comic museum in an Art Nouveau building” will be presented for the first time.
The director of that center, Haziel Scull, said they will host other activities such as the “Natural sketch workshop”, with Cuban cartoonists scheduled for November 4, and on November 8 the “Comic script workshop for cartoonists”.
Jean-Jacques Bastien, Belgian ambassador to Cuba, explained to the press that the event, as every year since 2006, will strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.
He explained this edition will be an extension from Brussels, the Belgian capital, of the festivities for Art Nouveau 2023.
Havana is the only city outside Europe that belongs to the Art Nouveau Cities Network, the ambassador stressed.
He also thanked the participation of the Japanese embassy in this cultural event with the conference “Manga in the Franco-Belgian comic market: the experience of Kana”, scheduled for Tuesday, November 7 in the Vitrine de Wallonie.
The event’s program also includes the presentation on Nov. 10 at the Cuban Factory of Art of the seventh volume of the magazine “Kronikas-El inventario imaginario”, by artists from the patio, and the concert by singer-songwriter Constanza Guzman at the Ignacio Cervantes Hall on Nov. 11.
The director of the Vitrine de Wallonie cultural center, Haziel Scull, said that in that venue there will be activities such as the “Natural sketch workshop”, with Cuban cartoonists on November 4, and on November 8 the “Comic script workshop for cartoonists”.
Scull highlighted the opportunity for exchange that the Belgian Week represents for artists of both nations.
