Germany promises energy investments in Africa

Berlin, Nov 20 (Prensa Latina) Germany confirmed on Monday its interest in soaring its business in Africa through energy investments, which could amount to some four billion euros between now and 2030.

According to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the region’s countries deserve to benefit from the great quantity of raw materials they possess, which can generate jobs and prosperity for Africans, while German industry aspires to have “reliable suppliers.”

Scholz argued, “Africa is our partner of choice when it comes to strengthening our economic relations and moving together towards a zero-emission future.”

Meanwhile, the President of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki confirmed that the continent is open to various partnerships, including those established with various companies in China for the use of renewable energy sources.

Managed by the German Executive, the fifth edition of the Africa Compact Summit responds to an initiative that emerged in 2017, which includes States such as Egypt, Ethiopia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia.
