Bolivians call Cuba solidarity rally against US blockade

La Paz, Nov 23 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian Cuba Solidarity Movement on Thursday confirmed the holding of the National Meeting in solidarity with the Cuban Revolution as a tribute to its historic leader, Fidel Castro.

A press release given to Prensa Latina states that social, cultural, academic, political organizations, doctors who graduated in Cuba, groups of workers, women and youths from Cochabamba, La Paz and Santa Cruz have joined efforts to guarantee the success of the rally.

According to the press release, participants will demand “the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba,” as well as the Caribbean island’s removal from the spurious State Sponsors of Terrorism list.

The forum is also aimed at strengthening solidarity actions in all nine departments of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and calling on social organizations and political parties to participate in the events organized by the Cuba Solidarity Movement in each department.

At the end of the meeting, a national statement will be issued with the conclusions of the forum.

The letter recalls that contrary to what was demanded by 187 of 190 participating States at the latest vote at the United Nations General Assembly, Washington maintains its economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

Remember that this “genocidal” policy was intensified amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the consequent global economic crisis.

The group adds that with the aim of increasing the damage to the Cuban population, Donald Trump’s administration reinforced the blockade with 243 new additional draconian measures, which are maintained by Joseph Biden’s Government.

The Movement regrets that this way, it is difficult for Cuba to acquire food, medicines and other necessary products.

“It is essential to return to the teachings and legacy of the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro, on seventh anniversary of his death (November 25, 2016),” the document concludes.
