German airline group connects Lebanon with European cities

Beirut, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) The German airline group Lufthansa currently connects Lebanon with the European cities of Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, and Zurich.

Lebanon’s Public Works and Transport Minister Ali Hamieh informed on X that Lufthansa resumed its scheduled regular flights between Frankfurt and Beirut in winter.

Swiss International Air Lines resumed flights between Zurich and Beirut on Saturday, while Eurowings will resume its flights to Beirut, Hamburg, Berlin, and Düsseldorf on Sunday, Hamieh said.

According to the minister, Swiss International Air Lines and Eurowings belong to the Lufthansa Group, which has been the largest airline group in Europe since 2009 and worldwide at present.

In earlier December, Lebanon confirmed an increase of 151 additional flights to destinations in Europe, the Middle East, the Gulf, and Africa from this year’s end to January 10.

In October, the national flag carrier Middle East Airlines-Air Liban (MEA) reduced the number of flights due to tensions in the region, following Israel’s airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
