Iran asked the UN Security Council to condemn bomb attack

Tehran, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) Iran today asked the United Nations (UN) Security Council for an urgent condemnation of the twin bomb attack perpetrated near the cemetery in the southern province of Kerman, which left 84 dead and more than 280 wounded.

According to the Iranian Mehr news agency, the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns these heinous acts of terrorism and will spare no effort to achieve justice for the victims of this incident and calls on the UN Secretary General and the UN Security Council to immediately and unequivocally condemn this terrible attack.

For his part, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has already expressed his deepest condolences to the families, the people and the Government of Iran, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured, according to a statement issued by his deputy spokesperson, Florencia Soto Niño.

On Wednesday, two explosions occurred in the cemetery of the city of Kerman, the capital of the homonymous province in the southeast of the country, where thousands of people were commemorating the fourth anniversary of the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani who was killed outside Bagdad’s airport by U.S. drone attack.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is the target of constant attacks, assassination attempts and destabilization attempts, of which the Persian authorities directly accuse the United States, Israel and some European Union nations.

Iranian intelligence services have recently dismantled several terrorist networks with proven links to the Mossad (Israeli intelligence), the CIA and other European espionage agencies.
