Argentine actors dialogue in Cuba about theater and technology

Matanzas, Cuba, March 5 (Prensa Latina) The actors Sebastián Pascual and Alejandra D' Agostino, members of the Argentine group Proyecto Interdisciplinario Experimental (PIE), spoke in the western province of Matanzas about theater and technology as part of the International Open Altarpiece Meeting (AND GO TO).

The second edition of the EIRA, which will run until March 7, becomes a space to learn more about theater and its multiple ways of doing things through the experiences of actors such as the members of PIE, said the director of Teatro de las Estaciones Rubén Darío Salazar.

According to Pascual, a PIE actor, the group bases its work on research into different media, technological supports and their hybridization with art, brought to the stage in order to create attractive and interactive works.

The specialist in object theater, interactivity and new media explained that when thinking about a play you must have a clear idea of whether or not technology is used out of necessity and not for mere spectacle, since actors must work with it a way that is enjoyable, creative and understandable.

For his part, D’Agostino highlighted that the management of technology in theater has its precedents in Greek culture, so far from being new, what is transcendental are the technological advances themselves and the way in which the actors handle them on stage.

Nowadays, technology becomes a very valuable tool when it comes to solving problems in construction sites, which sometimes require a large number of personnel, while also beautifying the shows and helping to create very attractive projects for all types of public, said the acting graduate.

The PIE group together with Luz, micro y punto from Spain, specialized in shadow theater, make up the foreign theater groups that will exchange their professional experiences during the second edition of the EIRA, an ideal event to delve deeper into the figures, forms, visualities and animated objects in today’s theater.
